Continuing his exploration of time, Matthew Bannister has released the single Space and Time from his brand new album The Dark Backward.

“The outer world of space; the inner world of time.”

Bannister explains that his song Space and Time  is a nod to the 3Ds classic Outer Space – and other psychedelic voyagers of the deep South.

On his new album The Dark Backward, Bannister offers up a series of original songs, some new and a few old, woven together with the theme of time.

This isn’t a retrospective, he says. “It’s about time…”

The Dark Backward album even includes No Sooner Here, a vintage song by one of Bannister’s previous bands Dribbling Darts of Love, from their 1991 Flying Nun EP Florid Dabblers Voting.

Matthew Bannister’s musical backstory includes the much-loved Flying Nun 80’s band Sneaky Feelings, through 90’s Flying Nun outfit The Dribbling Darts of Love, two well-received Beatles reinterpretations (Evolver and Rubber Solo), various solo releases under the moniker One Man Bannister, and several albums with his regular band, The Changing Same (most recently, The Changing Same Go To The Movies (Powertool, 2023).

The Dark Backward is out now via Powertool Records.
