Merv Pinny Releases Powerful New Country Rock Ballad ‘How Do I Stop Loving You’
New Zealand singer-songwriter Merv Pinny returns today with his deeply emotional new single, How Do I Stop Loving You, a powerful Country Rock ballad about love, vulnerability, and the pain of letting go.
Following the success of his 2025 album Hard Road, Pinny returns with a song that reaches into a more vulnerable and emotional side of his songwriting. How Do I Stop Loving You explores the struggle of trying to walk away from someone you still deeply love – knowing that some relationships can never simply become a friendship.
Driven by heartfelt lyrics, a powerful vocal performance, soaring guitars and warm acoustic textures, the song builds from intimate verses into an emotionally charged and memorable chorus.
At the heart of the song is a simple but powerful question: How do I stop myself loving you?
The new single marks the beginning of the next chapter in Merv Pinny’s musical journey and will be the first single from his forthcoming album, scheduled for release in early 2027. The decision to release a series of singles ahead of the album will allow each song to build its own audience and story.
Over the past 12 months, Merv Pinny’s international following has continued to grow, particularly across the United States and Brazil, as his music reaches new audiences through streaming platforms, YouTube and social media. His distinctive blend of Country, Rock and Blues continues to connect with listeners both in New Zealand and internationally.
The release of How Do I Stop Loving You will be accompanied by an official music video, adding a visual dimension to the song’s emotional story.
Merv Pinny will also continue his live performances, including shows in New Zealand’s South Island, before looking towards a larger album touring programme in 2027.
With his combination of authentic storytelling, powerful vocals, guitar-driven production and genuine New Zealand roots, Merv Pinny continues to carve out his own place as an independent Country Rock and Blues artist with an increasing international audience.
