Moon Unit Releases ‘Soft Metal’

Moon Unit are Oscar Davies-Kay (SCRAN, Water, Rackets, 2026 Australasian MA2 Champion) and Jackson Sullivan (NZDG Overall Tour Champ 2020, 2017 Australasian Disc Gold Champ, 2024 NZDG North Island Champ). Their sprawling 16 track debut album Soft Metal comes out today, Friday April 3rd, via T & M, a lo-fi indie effort that pushes at its own borders.

Recorded in the office of a disc golf warehouse in Onehunga, Oscar and Jackson meet every week, sharing all instrumental responsibilities and following intuition as they pursue every idea to completion. Unrestricted by live performances, Moon Unit operate a studio project, taking the DIY aesthetics out of the bedroom and into the productive atmosphere of the warehouse. Riding on the year of the Fire Horse, this journey to the moon is only the beginning, with 6 more EPs coming through the second half of the year.
