NOPILOT Unveil ‘What Am I Doing Here?’

NOPILOT is a four piece alternative rock band hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand. They boast a charismatic, high energy and genuine performance, selling out their debut show at darkroom in February of 2026. NOPILOT’s sophomore single What Am I Doing Here? is a high energy, uptempo rock song with sleek pop production- akin to the likes of early Killers.
What Am I Doing Here? draws inspiration from uptempo, feel-good rock and dance music while still maintaining a rock-band foundation. Heavily inspired by bands like The Killers, Green Day, Biffy Clyro and Neon Trees, NOPILOT seek to transport their audience back to the nostalgia of 2010s pop-rock.
NOPILOT are looking for networking support regarding marketing and radio airplay distribution with this single and subsequent releases. This is to take the first step in getting their music heard by the general public and “out there”. Thank you for your consideration.
At 165BPM What Am I Doing Here? emanates energy. The immediate wall of sound catches the listener by surprise, while a soaring guitar melody captivates the listener.
The verse breaks up this wall of sound, introducing space for Regan’s lead vocals to take precedence. The band follows a strict pattern of hits which lets the lead vocal melody shine.
The first chorus is soft, encouraging the listener to take note of the vocal melody and message behind the chorus. The chorus then builds back into the recurring guitar melody.
The second verse mimics the first. Suddenly, the groove shifts, catching the listener by surprise, building into a full-bodied version of the chorus.
The bridge boasts a groove change, shifting the energy to be more abrupt and anticipated. This is followed by a short build into the final double chorus.
The end of the song repeats the soaring guitar melody, before repeating the initial theme of space and hits, then building to the end of the piece.
