October And The Eyes Drops Mesmerising Video For Single, 'spiral'

October and The Eyes – currently on the road across the UK and Europe with their raw, energetic live show opening for Yves Tumor – is excited to unveil the video for new single ‘Spiral’.

Energetic, chaotic, disorientating” is how London-based alt artist October and The Eyes describes Spiral – and the same can be said for the video that’s just dropped.

“I worked closely with my good friend and flatmate Max McLachlan to come up with the concept of the video. I liked the idea of the camera being in constant rotation, speeding up over time to create a sense of disorientation and nausea while dipping and re-emerging between parallel worlds,” says October.

The track is the most recent release from the New Zealand born artist, whose sound is described as ‘collage rock’ (not to be confused with college rock). Pulling musical inspiration from the likes of Bauhaus, Bowie, Siouxsie Sioux and Suicide, she then squeezes her influences through the gauze of modernity and electronics, thus creating something entirely of her own.

Spiral is about a problematic friendship: “A constant pendulum between being pulled in and then spat out again, going round and round in circles until you’re left dizzied and jaded by the whole thing.” And the video perfectly captures the song’s intensity.

“There are two versions of myself in the video – this strong, assured, almost domineering presence, and then there’s this wounded, lost, animalistic version – both of which I’ve often felt like I pendulum between.”
