Following the July 31st release of her prizewinning song Fragile Little Egos, rising singer-songwriter Oni Kidman has now released her candid new 5-track EP If These Walls Could Talk.

Kidman says, “If These Walls Could Talk is a collection of songs about the people, feelings, and experiences that have occupied my mind over the last few years. From heartbreak and rejection to celebrity crushes and insecurity, these songs are a glimpse into a world that, for the most part, only my bedroom walls have known.”

The beauty of this collection is that, while the songs share Kidman’s own private reflections, they also convey feelings – and experiences – that are completely relatable to young people the world over.

This relatability is seen in the international acclaim of Fragile Little Egos, which placed third in the Unpublished category of the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) 2025, making Kidman the most successful Aotearoa New Zealand songwriter of the 2025 competition, as noted by NZ Musician. The same song also saw Kidman getting as far as the ISC semi-finals in the Pop/Top 40 category.

Kidman says, “Fragile Little Egos is an unapologetic response to the culture of online hate. It explores the battle between self-doubt and self-acceptance, navigating your way through ridicule and judgement from strangers online, and realising they’re not worth your time and energy in the first place.”

“They wake up in their lonely beds and start their lonely lives
Then they jump onto the internet and tear people down online
To feed their fragile little egos…”

Kidman’s Dad, renowned songwriter/musician/producer Rikki Morris, secretly entered Fragile Little Egos into the 2025 International Songwriting Competition – so its success came as a huge surprise to her.

Morris is no stranger to quality songwriting (among many things, he wrote the massive 1988 hit Nobody Else), and says, “Fragile Little Egos is SUCH a great song.  That’s why I (secretly) entered it in the International Songwriting Competition. I KNEW it would do well.”

Kidman teamed up with her cousin Maude Minnie Morris to record the EP If These Walls Could Talk; Morris was the resident engineer at renowned Tamaki Makaurau studio Big Pop for 8 years.
