Ōtautahi Artist KEI Drops Seductive New Single ‘Take’
Ōtautahi based singer, songwriter and producer KEI returns on September 4 with her most vulnerable release yet. Take is a sultry, slow-burning track that captures the ache of loving someone too much. Blending jazz-infl ected harmony, pulsing rhythm, and bold emotional honesty, the track marks a sonic turning point in KEI’s evolving voice as a solo artist.
Built around an intimate groove and spiralling vocal layers, Take dives deep into the emotional grey zone between infatuation and fear. The lyrics explore the sensation of being consumed by another person mentally, emotionally, and physically, while still desperately reaching for closeness.
KEI is a rising force in Aotearoa’s alternative music scene, known for her ability to move seamlessly between softness and power, vulnerability and control. As both a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, she creates immersive live experiences that highlight her emotional depth and fearless creativity.
