Releases New Single ‘Living Through The Ages’
Jullekke known as Julia Cooper is a Aotearoa singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Best known as the front woman and co-founder of Aotearoa’s well-loved band Dr Reknaw. Julia has recently birthed her solo project Jullekke. Julia is recognised for her smooth, velvety sultry vocal tones, catchy trance bass and guitar riffs and lyricism that often features an ethereal quality mixed with messages of empowerment, consciousness and healing. With flavours of roots, soul, world tastes and funk. Julia describes her music as “vibrational food for the soul of listeners. Melodies to gift and uplift”. Julia’s live set is captivating, intimate and inspiring.
Jullekke has recently released her debut single Living Through The Ages. Carrying on her well loved roots and groove dub flavours, Julia utilises her gift of music for activism and ageless truths. Julia is working on her debut album, composing and producing her album in her home studio in Taranaki. Julia will be touring her music solo and with a live band experience in the upcoming years.
Julia’s work with Dr Reknaw has taken her on multiple successful national and international tours. She has performed across major festivals and venues across Aotearoa including Homegrown, CubaDupa and Tora Bombora. Julia, alongside her older sister and co-founder Sophie Cooper, are proud that they are independent artists and their hard work has seen success with their music.
Continuing the second hiatus of Dr Reknaw after the release of their sophomore album Miracles in 2025, Julia is excited for the direction of her solo project Jullekke and looks forward to connecting to her live audiences.
