Meaning “to overcome” or “to be victorious”, Ia Manumalo speaks to perseverance, hope and collective success. It honours those who came before, the sacrifices they made and the foundations they laid, while looking ahead to what is possible for the generations that follow.

At its heart, Ia Manumalo celebrates the strength found in language, culture, and identity, and the importance of carrying them forward. It is a reminder that success does not require leaving behind where you came from – knowing who you are can be one of your greatest sources of strength.

Afai ua tasi lea, ina pese ia ma fa’aea, le manuia ‘aua le melea.

If we are united as one, let us sing and lift our voices, don’t miss this blessing.

These words sit at the heart of Ia Manumalo: the strength found in coming together and the possibilities that open up when our people move forward as one.

Featuring one of Samoa’s most beloved and recognisable voices, Wayno, alongside the soulful vocals of The Voice Australia Season 6 runner-up, Hoseah Partsch, and the collective power of Signature Choir, Ia Manumalo brings together generations of Pacific artistry, blending contemporary Pacific music with the richness of the Samoan language.

The release follows an incredible season for the choir, including three Pacific Music Awards in 2026 and opportunities to carry Pacific voices onto iconic stages across Aotearoa and Australia, including the Sydney premiere of Disney’s live-action Moana.

“Ia Manumalo has grown from our journey as a choir and the experiences we’ve had taking Pacific music and language to iconic stages. From Mana Moana to performing alongside Pacific Legends Te Vaka and The Rock, we’ve had many moments that have reminded us just how far our stories can travel. Hearing The Rock share about his grandfather and speak so proudly of being Samoan on a global stage really stayed with us. That feeling fuelled the inspiration of Ia Manumalo even more, for it to be a song our people can sing loudly and proudly, carrying with them where we come from and what we can become” – Fepulea’i Helen Tupai, Founder and Music Director of Signature Choir.

But Ia Manumalo reminds us that victory isn’t just found on the biggest stages or through massive achievements. Sometimes, it’s in the everyday things – speaking our language, practising our culture, honouring those who came before us and passing these traditions on to the next generation.

This is brought to life in the music video, which celebrates the little things that make us who we are. Because our greatest victories aren’t always measured by how far we’ve come, but by what we hold onto and what we pass on.

Above all, Ia Manumalo is a message for the next generation: dream big, know who you are and carry your culture with you wherever you go.
