Songhubs Seminar Series

The first will see Calgary native Jenna Andrews in conversation with head of APRA Member Services Victoria Kelly, on Wednesday 6th March at Bank Space in Grey Lynn. Doors at 6.30pm, seminar starts at 7pm.

As someone who was signed to a major label as a singer/songwriter, Jenna is familiar with the trials and tribulations faced by recording artists in achieving their vision. She is an expert vocal producer, executive producer and arranger, lending the collaborative skills of a songwriting mentor/partner to songs with Drake, Dua Lipa, Banks, Jennifer Lopez and Jessie J.

Jenna is an exclusive consultant for industry veteran Barry Weiss’ RECORDS label, her partner in their just-announced joint publishing venture Twentyseven Musicat Sony/ATV, where she has her own deal as a songwriter. Jenna brings a unique perspective from both sides of the coin to the SongHubs Seminar series, balancing her role as an A&R/artist development executive and an artist herself.

The second seminar will concentrate on the songwriting process itself, with Los Angeles based songwriters Nate Campany and Maize Olinger discussing songwriting styles, and collaboration in a changing music industry. The seminar will be held on Thursday 7 March at Bank Space in Grey Lynn. Doors at 6.30pm, seminar starts at 7pm.

Nate and Maize have some incredible writing credits to their names, both with a rich history of collaboration with major artists.

Nate co-wrote This Time Around on Tove Lo’s platinum selling album Queen of the Clouds, 4 songs on Carly Rae Jepsen’s critically acclaimed album Emotion and LP’s Lost On You which was #1 in 27 countries. He also co-wrote Martin Garrix’s Scared to be Lonely feat. Dua Lipa which went 3 times platinum in worldwide sales, and the #1 US Latin airplay Becky G x Natti Natasha song Sin Pijama.

Maize Olinger is foremost a co-writer and singer in the band Night Things with Zach Shields, former half of ANTI signed band Dead Man’s Bones. Since signing with Greg Kurstin she’s devoted most of the last 12 months to honing her skills as a writer in both her artist project with producer Wendy Wang, and collaborations with MoZella, Kamandi, Sam Wilkes of Cutty Gold, and Mr Little Jeans.
