Spark Arena Named Among The World’s Top 20 Arenas

Spark Arena has been named an Arena Star 2026 by IQ Magazine, placing it among the top 20 arenas in the world. The recognition, awarded as part of IQ’s annual Global Arena Guide, puts Spark Arena alongside venues including The O2 in London, United Center in Chicago, and Avicii Arena in Stockholm.
The Arena Stars list identifies venues that set the benchmark for live entertainment globally. Spark Arena was recognised for its versatility across formats and audiences, with a production system enabling configurations from 2,500 to 13,000 attendees, and its standing as one of the APAC region’s most adaptable entertainment venues.
The recognition follows a period of strong performance for the venue. In March 2026, Linkin Park’s From Zero World Tour set an all-time attendance record for a single show at the venue, with 12,736 fans. Recent shows have also included Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism Tour, Deftones’ recent performance, Mumford and Sons’ Prizefighter Tour, and later this year the Arena will host Zara Larsson’s Midnight Sun Tour, Hillary Duff’s The Lucky Me Tour and J Cole’s The Fall-Off World Tour.
As the venue approaches its 20th anniversary in 2027, recent investment has delivered four new premium suites, expanded capacity, and a full front-of-house refurbishment. Its sustainability credentials are equally strong: Spark Arena has earned the Toitū Carbon Reduction certification three years running and diverts an average of 95% of concert waste from landfill.
Guy Ngata, Senior Vice President, Live Nation New Zealand:
“Spark Arena’s place among the world’s top 20 arenas is a huge point of pride, not just for the venue and its team, but for Auckland and for New Zealand’s live music industry. This recognition reflects years of investment in the fan experience and a commitment to make Auckland a destination that international artists want to return to.”
Mark Gosling, General Manager, Spark Arena:
“We’ve worked hard to make Spark Arena a venue that works for every kind of show – from an intimate theatre production to a full-scale arena spectacle – and to make sure that when artists and promoters are planning Asia Pacific tours, Auckland is on the list. Setting an all-time attendance record with Linkin Park this year was a proud moment, but we are ultimately driven by consistency, delivering great experiences night after night, across every format and genre. This award from IQ and the wider industry is recognition of that.”
The Arena Stars award is part of a broader moment for New Zealand’s live music market. In its June 2026 edition, IQ Magazine selected New Zealand as its market focus – noting that the country consistently punches above its weight on the world stage – and featured New Zealand’s arena circuit in the Global Arena Guide 2026.
