Swallow the Rat release their new single ‘MMA Math (A Place to Bury Strangers Remix)’
Tāmaki Makaurau psych-post-punks Swallow the Rat let New York noiseniks A Place to Bury Strangers loose on one of their songs, and you can hear the result in the MMA Math (A Place to Bury Strangers Remix).
You can also find the remix on Swallow the Rat’s new EP Face Unpopular, which is available digitally thanks to DRM.
The band spent a weekend at the end of last year with Nick Abbott at his Auckland studio, recording three new songs which will feature on the Face Unpopular EP. They’re the last tracks written and recorded with singer/bassist Stephen Horsley, who left (amicably) to pursue adventures in recording and production.
A 7″ single featuring the songs Face Unpopular and MMA Math will be out in a few weeks, courtesy of Otautahi Christchurch label Leather Jacket Records.
The Swallow the Rat live band is a three-piece, with founders Brian Purington and Hayden Fritchley joined by Jimmy Coldham (Coffin Club, BURDENZ) on bass.
The new configuration is heading off to Europe in September for a mammoth 21-date tour.
