The Dorado Experiment’s Funk-Rock Curveball ‘Snake Skin Seller’ Takes Flight

Whakatū Nelson psychedelic rock band The Dorado Experiment bring funk, rap and rock together on Snake Skin Seller, the second single from their debut album Becoming A Man.
Where the band’s music can move through psychedelic rock, extended jams and heavy riffs, Snake Skin Seller reveals another side of their sound. Funk-driven, rock instrumentation and rap-inspired vocals give the track a loose, swaggering feel reminiscent of early Red Hot Chili Peppers, while a didgeridoo adds an unexpected layer to the mix.
The song also captures the band’s general ethos around music. Formed in 2024, the group have a reputation for improvisation and live performance, allowing songs to evolve through the energy of the room and the musicians on stage. That same sense of freedom runs through Becoming A Man, a 10-track debut that moves across classic rock, psychedelia, funk and extended jam-based compositions.
To celebrate the new single, The Dorado Experiment are hitting the road for performances in Otautahi, Hokitika and Punakaiki bringing their unique live performance experience to multiple South Island locations.
