Wellington/Pōneke-based band The Splinters have released their latest single, Curriculum Vitae, following April’s Boogie Dipstick – a high-energy, tongue-in-cheek track encouraging New Zealand audiences to stand up and shake what they’ve got. Together, the two releases provide an introduction to the band’s current sound and future direction.

Following the release of their previous singles, The Splinters have continued to build momentum across Aotearoa’s live music scene. The band has played major festival slots at Rhythm and Vines and Outfield, opened for Powder Chutes at Valhalla, and returned to the Wellington venue on 24 April 2026 to sell it out for their official Boogie Dipstick release show.

The show received a glowing review from Daniel O’Brien at Muzic.NZ, who wrote that “The Splinters took the stage itself and made it their own”, describing the performance as “spellbinding” and declaring that “LIVE MUSIC is in safe fu**ing hands.”

Boogie Dipstick and Curriculum Vitae capture the energy The Splinters have become known for.

Boogie Dipstick is a playful call to action – encouraging audiences to stop standing still, throw themselves around and remember that gigs are meant to be felt, not just watched.

Boogie Dipstick is about getting people moving,” says the band. “It’s us telling New Zealand audiences to stand up and have a proper boogie.”

Their latest single, Curriculum Vitae, showcases another side of the band’s sound. The track channels frustration, humour, and charm through an absurd one-line chorus.

These releases mark another step forward for The Splinters, whose growing reputation has been fuelled by sweaty, energetic live shows and a steadily expanding audience. Their sold-out Valhalla release show was a milestone moment, demonstrating the band’s growing momentum both in Wellington and beyond.

Boogie Dipstick and Curriculum Vitae are out now on all streaming platforms.
