Model Home’s new album wastes no time opening the listener into their soundscape in …And Nobody Made A Sound; The new album teeming with swinging beats and sparkling guitar parts as well as a solid voice that empowers and uplifts the listener.
The opening track Home Again V feels like we’re being welcomed into a family- there’s a comforting vibe to the composition- like the punk rock kids grew up. An immediate perception of this album of this album is the similarity between tracks- similar keys and chord progressions – as well composed and phrased as they may be- do tend to mix together and become hard to differentiate; with the exception of tracks like Spain and As Per which build up their stories into a thundering, satisfying conclusion.
With that being said this release can be viewed as a 40-minute anthology- a surplus of jazzy, poppy, Midwest emo-esque “last train home” / ”countryside road trip” music, wonderfully crafted and curated.
As for the fans of weird song titles- this is your kind of scene- with the head scratching yield of titles like 1984 Ford Laser Amateur Dryer Repair and Leaky Home Simulator 2031 – are sure to have your friends squinting at you as you say “yeah you’ll love this song it’s called Nokia Ringtone”, without an ounce of irony.
In short- this is what local music should be; people, having fun. This is an album made for the people, jamming out on a late night drive or moving out of your parents’ house.
It’s fun, concise and accessible. Wishing this band the best and with hopes to see more.
