Calling Out has the pacing of a hit dance track, but the style is very much ballad-esque. Soft, thick vocals from Amy Maynard, she almost struggles with the pace to start, trying to hang onto those sultry notes while guitarist Aaron Gott keeps pushing the track onwards. Any timing incongruities are cleared by the first chorus, where we are greeted by some beautifully passionate melodies, vocal harmonies, and piercing highs.
Calling Out is a slow building track with minimal guitar presence in the first act until Gott’s vocals signal the second phase of the track, and it goes full pop. While the chorus is repetitive, it drives home the emotions conveyed through the lyrics; an unconventional love song. An evocative piece, with a bold beginning.

About the author butch181

Hey there! I’m Alex. Long time music lover, long time reviewer, and now I finally get to combine those and be a music reviewer! As a guitarist, pianist, and vocalist, I have a great appreciation for musicianship and the technicalities that go along with a group of people making music together. My genres of preference tend to gravitate towards Punk/Rock/Heavy/Metal, but I also like to dabble in some Classical, Pop, and even some Drum and Bass. Hope you enjoy my contributions!
