A Kiwi-born musician, producer and DJ, Stu J loves to create energetic, up-beat indie-dance songs which have an electronic feel, but still include the best parts of rock and pop. His current music feels similar to artists like MGMT and Empire of the Sun.
His latest track Destination Unknown, while electronically driven, really puts its vocals front and centre while using the music to build around it. Be it the distorted guitar, pulsing dirty bass sound or a range of synths, the outcome is a catchy song that definitely draws on the previously mentioned bands. The electric bass is punchy, the kick stays 4 on the floor where needed and then changes up in the chorus, which is definitely one of the coolest I have heard in a while.
Overall, this is a great track that demonstrates that Stu J knows what he wants to achieve and then is able to draw on his influences to build the song, while also staying original.
