Single Review: Galaxy

Leighton Fairlie has just released his stunning debut single Galaxy. This track starts off with some nice crisp Reggae style guitars and interesting vocal effects. With some brass and a banging Reggae drum beat, it reminds me of Salmonella Dub.

The song has a brilliant Summer road trip feel to it, the mixing and mastering are on point and very professional. Leighton is known to cover a range of genres across the spectrum such as DnB, Hip-Hop and Roots to name a few, and it would be a great to see Leighton throw down Galaxy amongst all these genres to make a full spectrum of entertainment at his live shows.

This track has a stand out element of vocal effects. The lyrics are uplifting and smooth. I can see this song being played at festivals, concerts, clubs and bars all over New Zealand. It’s new songs like this one that keep the Reggae scene alive in NZ and set the benchmark for the world, and this particular track sets a very high benchmark indeed.
