Single Review: Jack In

Achilles Complex hail from Hamilton and have been making a name for themselves since 2019, when they came on the scene with their explosive prog rock medley.

The four piece, compromising of frontman, Harley Flynn (vocals and guitar), Zak Cole (drums), Reece Gielen (vocals and lead guitar) and Jordan Carpenter (bass) create a stunning blend of intricate sounds, both heavy and melodic. They boast undeniable talent and depth.

Jack In is the band’s first single from their upcoming and highly-anticipated debut EP, Brand New World.

Opening with a synth fueled ambient sound, driving guitar riffs and crisp, clean melodic vocals, Jack In showcases that they are very much in their element, as they deliver a song that is solid from start to finish.

While I was hoping for a heavier vocal performance for this single, knowing what they are capable of, I wasn’t disappointed to hear those crunchy riffs at the forefront. I can’t wait to see what the rest of their EP unfolds.
