Songs For Michelle EP Review

The first track When from Coach’s new EP Songs For Michelle opens with such a full warm sound it makes an instant unforgettable impact. It’s a slow tempo track with rich vibrant guitars and deep warm vocals, backed by some haunting ooohs, which makes me, feel like I’m floating on clouds. Abraham Kunin is like a smoother version of Eddie Vedder and writes some class songs. 

Hope Sings has so much reverb it sounds like it’s been recorded in a mini Albert Hall. Simon Walker’s drums sound massive. Deathstar Studios certainly know how to record and produce. Low down bass strings by Jonathan Burgess add real depth and colour to this song which is simple yet very effective. I love it. 

Emerson completes the EP with again a great full sound, and great vocals. One thing about this EP is that none of the songs are instantly catchy or instant radio hit singles, however they make you want to play them again and again. I can’t wait to see them live, unfortunately I missed them in Wellington on 30^th January 2014. Good work guys, keep them coming.
