Yussef Dayes to tour NZ

One of the breakout players of the South London jazz scene, Yussef Dayes today announces his debut New Zealand tour, starting at Wellington’s Meow on Tuesday June 7 before heading to Auckland’s Hollywood Theatre on Wednesday June 8.

Tickets for all shows go on sale 1pm, Friday May 6.

Well known for his work with afrobeat band United Vibrations, as one half of the electrifying jazz duo Yussef Kamaal and his hugely successful collaborative album with Tom Misch, Yussef Dayes is set to take Kiwis in Auckland and Wellington on two genre-bending journeys this June.

Expect a rapid-fire live show from one of the UK’s most exciting and innovative young producers. Yussef incorporates grime and hip hop with Senegalese percussion and contemporary jazz to deliver a truly unique concert experience.

Yussef Kamaal emerged in 2015 as a partnership between Yussef Dayes and fellow Londoner Kamaal Williams, and their 2016 album Black Focus has been one of the most heralded jazz records of recent times. In 2018 Yussef Dayes began releasing his first solo tracks, before partnering with Tom Misch in 2020 to record their acclaimed joint album What Kinda Music as well as release solo live album Welcome to the Hills.

Arriving in New Zealand off the back of hot ticket arts festival shows for VIVID Sydney and RISING Melbourne, Yussef Dayes invites New Zealanders to join him on a rollercoaster through jazz this June.
