In the lead-up to their sophomore album release, Racing will release two new songs on Friday afternoons over the next few months. Known as ‘Bang Bang Fridays’ – they will consist of one new album track and one b-side.

The first ‘Bang Bang Friday’ is Friday March 11, with the release of In Silver and b-side Aqua Boogie.

In Silver is a high-soaring, rock n’ roll banger of a tune, with a wall of relentless guitars giving backdrop to lead singer Ed Knowles’ honeyed yet fractured lyrics. Once again, Racing has managed to lure the listener into a melancholy triumph of danceable madness.

The song was self-produced at The Lab, in Mount Eden, Auckland. With several delays to its release, due to lockdowns, now is finally the time for Racing to start releasing its highly-anticipated sophomore album.

The new release In Silver follows-on from Racing’s 2021 single Space Boogie – a rhythmic journey through the cosmic entrails of Auckland’s nightlife, the single features the vocal stylings of Peter Urlich from Th’ Dudes and followed on from the 2020 single Flashbacks, which peaked at #2 on the rock chart.

Racing’s upcoming new album is excitingly anticipated, especially after the release of their critically-acclaimed 2018 debut album Real Dancing, which included radio hits Run Wild (50 weeks in NZ’s official rock chart) and Motel Pool.

Made up of long-time collaborators Ed Knowles (vocals) and Sven Pettersen (guitar) – two crucial parts of the colossus that was The Checks – and two other heavy hitters on the Kiwi alt scene, Daniel Barrett (bass) and Izaak Houston (drums), Racing has gone on to forge its own path on the local indie rock scene.

Strap yourself in, it’s set to be a big year for Racing!
