Catch A Glimpse Of Benee's 'lychee' Drive In Experience

To celebrate the release of her EP, Kiwi pop phenomenon BENEE invited fans along to a drive-in to watch as the technicolour world of Lychee came to life on the big screen.

Located in Auckland’s Shed 10, BENEE teamed up with Spark & Spotify to offer her Kiwi fans a fun, free and safe way to experience the essence of Lychee in person without ever leaving their cars.

Time slots to attend the Lychee Drive-In Experience on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th of March were fully booked within two minutes. For those who missed out, fans can now catch all the best moments from the audiovisual extravaganza here!

A dreamy collection of alt-pop mixes, softly-sung vocals and musings on relationships, anxiety and finding oneself, Lychee is a vulnerable blend of thoughts with a sugary-sweet delivery. Much like the EP itself, the drive-in brought together the perfect amalgamation of juxtaposing ideas.

Upon entry, fans were greeted with a series of bubble-gum-neon-goth installations before receiving a complimentary Lychee beverage and exclusive hand-signed BENEE card. Vibrant visuals displaying an array of unseen intimate moments and BENEE’s quirky personality then lit up the big screen as fans sang their hearts out while listening to the EP on Spotify.

The drive-in experience was a New Zealand music industry first. After countless disruptions to the music scene over the past two years, the Lychee experience provided a vibrant and uplifting space for fans to come together and celebrate – while also keeping safety the priority.

For Lychee, BENEE headed out of lockdown in her New Zealand home to work on sessions in LA, which formed the basis of a new set of music she says is coming from a “great creative space” despite the pressures of what has been “the craziest time in all our lives.” The EP features tracks penned with Greg Kurstin, Kenny Beats, and Rostam in LA. Back in New Zealand, she finished up three tracks with her regular collaborator Josh Fountain, including the already-released Doesn’t Matter, which has gathered over 5.5 million Spotify streams and 490K YouTube views on the music video (co-directed by BENEE).

BENEE is also looking forward to a 2022 headline world tour. The North American leg kicks off on May 31st in Montreal and makes stops in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and more. BENEE will also be performing at The Governors Ball and Bonnaroo this summer. See the full list of dates below and at www.beneemusic.com.
