Aotearoa’s hottest alt-pop duo Foley have just revealed their phenomenal second album, That’s Life, Baby!, along with the addictively carefree focus single and video That’s Life, Baby!.

The pair of pop virtuosos ascend to new heights on their sophomore album, having spent the last year refining their craft, unearthing new stories to tell, and finding entirely new ways to tell them. “That’s Life, Baby! sums up our approach to life in a nutshell; we go through highs and lows, love, loss, trauma, but at the end of the day we are positive, light-hearted and optimistic because we have each other through it all,” explain Ash and Gabe.

“The album is a collection of stories and experiences from the last year, each track describing an interaction with those around us, or a realisation within ourselves, that has had a lasting impact on us as people; each one a little slice of our lives.”

Foley have been teasing the album, dropping sun-soaked singles Fever, Heartstrings, Unstable, Time Of My Life, Low and High and Miss You All The Time; all of which received impressive local media and radio support from the likes of Sniffers, Rolling Stone AU/NZ, The Hits and ZM. Low and High garnered 100k streams in just three days, landing on Spotify playlists including Pop Sauce, Pop n’ Fresh, chill AF, Happy Pop Hits, New Pop Revolution and multiple global New Music Friday’s.

These singles set the bar for the album at an all-time high, with today’s full album release unlocking new flavours like the disco-inspired Cardio, the vulnerable and raw track Back To Me and the dreamy, heartfelt song Never Feels Like Summer.

The lead single and title track, That’s Life, Baby! ties together the carefree, driving with the top down vibe of the album. The video, directed by Tom Grut and also out today, matches this energy and visually depicts the overarching feeling of That’s Life, Baby!.

That’s Life, Baby! reflects a new dynamic in the way we’re writing about our feelings and thoughts. We’re no longer trying to find answers or navigate life with songs like we used to – we know that life’s going to throw everything at us and sometimes you just have to roll with it,” say Foley. “We’re accepting the messiness, the chaos and the joy that comes with everything. It’s a nuanced distinction but feels really fresh and light, and bubbly for us as we grow up. That’s Life, Baby!

The bulk of the songs were written on a Waiheke Island writing retreat with collaborators Josh Naley and Harry Charles – both of whom, the band expressed, “have been instrumental in honing the Foley sound.” Allowing the location itself to be “the extra member of the band,” Ash and Gabe felt they were able to write freely, letting their production and songwriting processes be influenced by the stunning Aotearoa weather and environment.

Today’s sophomore album follows their 2023 debut album Crowd Pleaser, which hit #2 on the Official Top 20 NZ Albums Chart. Alongside the success of their recorded music, Foley also established a dynamic reputation as a live unit, touring consistently as headliners and performing as support for artists including Remi Wolf, Tove Lo, Flight Facilities and BENEE.

2024 saw the duo become Aotearoa Music Award nominees (Best Pop Artist) and enjoy a sold-out five-date tour through Los Angeles and New York in April/May. They also found themselves on one of pop culture’s biggest radars when Killing Me Babe was featured on the recent season finale of The Kardashians.

That’s Life, Baby! marks an exhilarating new chapter for NZ’s very own alt-pop duo. Don’t miss the chance to be a part of this moment!
