The Early 20’s Release ‘On & On’

Auckland’s The Early 20’s return with On & On, a woozy, emotionally raw single that blends shoegaze haze with lo-fi grit and an emo heartbeat. Written and produced by frontman Adam Rivers, the track spirals through feelings of emptiness, obsession, and emotional inertia – capturing the ache of being stuck in love with nothing.
Fuzzed-out guitars, aching vocals, and a hypnotic rhythm section from Kane Gray (drums)and Cade Bond (bass) give the song a dreamlike momentum that lives up to its name.
Formed after their music school closed its doors, the band built their sound from the ground up – equal parts DIY punk energy and introspective indie sensibility. Following the success of Not This Time (which topped the NZ Hot 20 Singles Chart), On & On continues the rollout of singles from their upcoming second project, Girl in Disguise.
Self-recorded and self-released, The Early 20’s are carving out space in Aotearoa’s alt scene with music that’s both deeply personal and disarmingly universal.
