Gritty, playful, and current, the 13-track record is an eclectic melting point of early 2000’s nostalgia, polished production, edgy pop-rock influences, and undeniably catchy vocal melodies. Paired with Danica’s poignant lyricism, Feast explores musings on femininity, queer identity, neurodiversity, and growing up.
“It’s all about coming of age and understanding how identity is a performance as much as a lived truth,” says Danica. “I wanted it to be a fun, thrilling listen that never goes quite where you expect, and makes you think just as much as it makes you dance and sing along.”
The Wellington-based artist’s album campaign has been brought to life by her loyal fanbase, with the release of Feast made possible through a grassroots crowdfunding campaign in 2024.
A testament to her vision and momentum, Feast continues what has already been a whirlwind career for Danica; accolades from Smokefree Rockquest and Play It Strange, mentorship with Kiwi legend Bic Runga, two successful EPs, and support slots for Elton John, Robbie Williams and Foreigner.
2024 and 2025 have seen the widespread adoration of Feast singles Acid (#2 Hot Aotearoa Singles Chart), Morals (TAHI FM, Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Tearaway), Buzz (The Most FM, 13th Floor, Juice TV), and Narcissist.
Now, joining the album’s singles is focus-track and video (I’ll Be Your) Drag Queen – an ode to femininity, queerness, and identity as performance. The closing track of Feast and a quirky ballad with a hint of darkness, the delicate new single is also joined by an exciting new music video featuring Bunny Holiday: a drag performer from TVNZ’s House of Drag and the first official drag queen Playboy Bunny in the world!
