Dick Johnson Feat. Goldman Sax Release ‘Always’ Single
The celebration marking Dick Johnson’s 20-year tenure at the heart of Aotearoa’s EDM scene continues with Friday’s release of Always feat Goldman Sax.
The respected producer and DJ, who was born in the UK but now lives in Auckland, is gearing up to release a full-length album serving as a nod to the two decades he’s spent immersed in Aotearoa’s electronic and club scene.
The album contains the already released In My Arms feat The Peacekeepers and Friday’s new drop, Always feat Goldman Sax, which has all the hallmarks of a classic house banger with an infectious sax line.
“House music is my passion and this is something I’d play in every DJ set no matter what,” says Dick Johnson.
He adds that Always started out as a very different song. “It was a track with George FM host Sin and it featured a trumpet solo. Sin and I had a great vibe going but time went on and she got really busy with her show. I ended up changing the track a million times and finally ended up with saxophone, provided by Sam Jones AKA Goldman Sax.”
Capturing the uplifting and euphoric vibe of Always is a ‘trippy’ visualiser, created by Kit Lawrence, which leans into the old school animated rave aesthetic.
Co-written with Sam Jones, Always is the second single from Dick’s upcoming full-length album, which features a ‘who’s who’ of New Zealand talent, including Kings, Jeremy Redmore and Anna Coddington.
