Aidan Fine Shares His Debut Album ‘Ed’s Sun’

Today (1 August), NZ-based Aidan Fine releases his debut album Ed’s Sun, a woozy, sun-blasted trip through memory and emotional fallout.
Blending alternative hip-hop, psychedelic, and experimental sounds, Ed’s Sun is a carefully crafted album that finds Aidan Fine unapologetically pushing artistic boundaries. Distilled from over 100 demos, Fine has created a record that is a culmination of a decade of experimentation and self-inquiry, which he describes as “equal parts spiritual, strange, and deeply personal”.
The album was produced by Aidan and Smurgy (Sam Murgatroyd), mixed by De Stevens at Roundhead Studios & mastered by Kelly Hibbert. The release is accompanied by a short film produced by creative director Tom Grut.
The release of the album follows singles Undercover – likened to a nostalgic ‘psychedelic-summer in LA’ and Summertime Nausea ft. Kid Rey, featuring hazy sitar melodies. On July 11, Fine shared the third and final single, Heatstroke ft. Yamikani, a vivid, hallucinatory single with distorted guitar lines and a driving bassline.
Florida-born, Johannesburg-raised and now Auckland-based, Aidan Fine channels a nomadic youth into a vivid blend of neo-psychedelia, left-field hip-hop, and guitar-laced alt-pop. As a self-released artist since his teenage years, he has accumulated over 3 million streams, led by singles Sunday Morning, Gold, and his debut EP, Wings. His music has been praised by the likes of Rolling Stone Australia and the NZ Herald, and an upcoming BigSound showcase in Brisbane, Australia, marks rising international buzz.
Ed’s Sun, the debut album from Aidan Fine, is out NOW on all streaming platforms and is available for pre-order on vinyl.
