The Guest House arrives after Georgia was earlier this year named as a finalist in the prestigious 2025 Taite Music Prize; her debut album The Rose Of Jericho also received six nominations at the Aotearoa Music Awards.
The five-track EP contains the already released songs Wonderful Life, Julia and Till The Music Stops, which sit alongside Limoncello and the new single The Guest House, from which this body of work takes its name.
Intimate, warm and deeply reflective, the song The Guest House is built on organic instrumentation and subtle textures, weaving layered vocals with storytelling that feels both personal and universal – the kind of song that lingers long after it ends.
It’s a gentle, yet powerful closing chapter to the EP, which was written and recorded with Matt Hales (Olivia Dean, Lianne La Vahavas, Aqualung) across three countries, with mixing done by Beni Giles and mastering by Kog Studios.
Georgia shares a meaningful moment with the frontman of Coldplay, which helped to shape the project. “I had a conversation with Chris Martin at a Coldplay afterparty, when they were on tour in NZ. He shared his favourite poem with me, The Guest House by Rumi, and the words really resonated. Months later, on the tube in London after a day of recording, I realised the poem hadn’t just stayed in my mind, it had been quietly shaping the work itself. Its essence perfectly captured the songs we were creating: the sense of living in a space of transition, welcoming every visitor, every emotion, every experience, and allowing each to take its place. It felt inevitable that the EP would carry the poem’s name, because in many ways, the words gave the songs their home.”
Sonically The Guest House is a natural progression from Georgia’s award-winning 2024 album The Rose of Jericho. “It leans into the wonky human elements of making music. It’s not about perfection, it’s about embracing imperfection, the rawness, texture, and realness that I love in the records I return to again and again.”
A powerful visual aesthetic threads together the songs on the EP, including the title track which is accompanied by a video shot on Super 8.
“The video features behind the scenes moments from a week away in Manawatū, where I took eight of my friends and team to an old farmhouse. We created the entire visual world for the project – all the videos, live performances and photo shoots. I wanted to share with the world what happened that week – the chaos, the laughter, the tears, the early mornings and late nights, eating together, drinking tea, making fires, building swings. I wanted the video to feel organic, homely, and raw – a true reflection of The Guest House and how it all came together.”
Georgia is celebrating the release of The Guest House with a two-date New Zealand tour, which kicks off in her hometown of Tauranga tonight at Totara Street. She will perform again tomorrow night at The Hollywood in Auckland. Get tickets HERE
