Emerson returns with biting new single Just Not Into You, a punchy pop-rock track that tackles the awkward moment of realising someone likes you more than you like them. Equal parts brutally honest and self-aware, the song captures the messy mix of humour, guilt, and insecurity that comes with letting someone down.
Written in Melbourne with Kiwi producer Ciarann Babbington (Baker’s Eddy), the track blends Emerson’s sharp, conversational lyric style with an energetic pop-rock edge. While the lyrics lean into playful sarcasm, they also reveal the uncomfortable tension between honesty and self-sabotage that sits beneath the surface of many modern relationships.
Babbington also collaborated with Emerson on her previous single Again, which debuted at #10 on the Aotearoa Hot 20 Singles Chart earlier this year and secured multiple Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlist placements. The new single was mastered by Seattle-based engineer Barrett Jones, bringing an added layer of polish to Emerson’s growing catalogue.
