Slitopia Releases New Album ‘Volume One’

Slitopia Volume One, the debut album from Tāmaki Makaurau’s heart-throb queer partnership is inspired by people, places and moments, transformed into dance rhythms and experimental melodies.
Slitopia is the electronic duo of Sophie Sutherland and Evelyn Fletcher Jenkins who create and perform abstract electronic dance music exclusively on hardware instruments. Their compact setup is as much a feature of a hands-on approach as necessity of making music on the move – living nomadically in Europe for the past year and currently on a 12-date tour across the USA.
Volume One is inspired by 90’s UK Garage and Japanese electronica, with significant recent encounters with the likes of Orbital, Xiu Xiu, and John Maus.
“… enamours the ear with warm analogue bass tones and shimmering melodies, explorations of changing pulse, rhythmic exchange, waves and dynamic textures, snaking through the sonic undergrowth …”
The duo plan on returning to Aotearoa to share this latest release and more in 2026.
Volume One is available now on Bandcamp and Soundcloud, releasing on consumer streaming platforms October 3rd.
