Announcing the ‘Black Kite Remixes’

Black Kite (Remixes) brings together a constellation of artists from across Aotearoa; deepState, wear pounamu, Lola and Andre de Joux; for a suite of forward-thinking arrangements around Teddyyy’s recent ambient-pop single.
Reimagined, Black Kite’s ghostly atmosphere comes alive with new shades and rhythms. deepState conjures a sweeping, hypnotic slice of UKG, while wear pounamu brings tectonic plugg beats and fractured vocals. Lola’s offering weaves mystical strings across shadowy breakbeats before darkness is lifted with Andre de Joux’s kaleidoscopic, shimmering house remix.
About the artists:
deepState is the musical project of Jessica Morgan, a musician and songwriter based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her music is a journey of electronic experimentation, investigating the nuances of house, electronica, downtempo, garage and breakbeat. Her sophomore album, Dreams, spans high-energy heartbreak and blissful melancholia. Released to universal acclaim, it saw her nominated for Best Electronic Artist at the 2024 Aotearoa Music Awards and win Favourite Album at the SRN Awards 2023.
Just as the sacred Pounamu stone is revered for its spiritual significance and deep connection to the land, Wear Pounamu creates music that carries the mana and vibration of their tīpuna.
For Lola, music is only one part of a beautiful and brutal equation. In the same tradition as Björk, Imogen Heap and 070 Shake, the emerging vocalist and producer creates dark experimental pop music draped in multimedia visuals that drinks deeply from the wellsprings of the avant-garde, queer club culture, runway music and transhumanist themes. Her debut EP, Outside World, landed in 2025 — a body of work exploring grief, spirituality, and unseen forces.
Andre de Joux is one of Ōtautahi’s best-kept secrets. Starting out with solo house releases, they soon branched into faster tempos, contributing multiple tracks to Footmahi Compilations via The Big Fresh Collective. Since 2024, Andre has expanded their artistry beyond production, stepping forward as a vocalist on tracks like Closer and Forever Changing with more emotive and personal songwriting. With upcoming releases in the works, Andre de Joux is set to keep building momentum in 2025 and beyond.
Teddyyy is the musical project of Theodore Holmstead-Scott (Rangitāne o Wairau), a co-founder and resident DJ of the iconic queer club night NYMPHO. Teddyyy’s music offers an atmospheric, emotionally-driven take on electronic pop. Spectral vocal hooks are woven through a tapestry of trance, hyperpop, ambient and club sounds. His 2024 single, Radio, debuted at #1 on 95bFM and introduced him as a singular voice in Aotearoa’s music landscape.
