Hannah May Returns to Her Country Roots with New Single ‘You and I’

After taking a year off to embrace motherhood, Hannah May is back – and she’s hitting the open road with her brand new single You and I, out now.
Produced by Joel Myles of Head Atlas Recording Studios, You and I sees the beloved folk-pop artist return to her country roots with an upbeat, feel-good anthem about leaving life’s stresses behind and taking a well deserved road trip with your person. The song’s driving instrumentation and breezy vocals capture the freedom of escape, while its lyrics reflect on burnout, connection, and finding joy in the simple moments.
“For the past five years I’ve been writing mostly folk and pop music, but this song felt like a full-circle moment, going back to the kind of music I grew up with,” Hannah says. “It’s about letting go, grabbing the keys, and remembering what really matters.”
Originally from New Zealand and now based in Far North Queensland, Hannah first rose to prominence as one half of the country duo Mae Valley, who were Top 10 finalists on The X Factor New Zealand in 2015. She has since gone on to open for Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, and Jack Botts, continuing to make her mark as one of Australasia’s standout songwriters.
You and I is now available on all major streaming platforms.
