Rising Pōneke star jeline finds her groove on new single ‘losing all of me’

Rising indie-pop and rock artist jeline has released a powerful new single, losing all of me – a brave and honest reflection on the music industry.

A proud Filipino, born and raised in Pōneke, jeline describes losing all of me as a “scream out feelings type of song”. She wrote losing all of me based on her experiences in music as a young BIPOC female artist.
“It was the one and only song I wrote last year as I had a negative and toxic relationship with music. It was a whole mix of things – releasing new singles and not knowing how to promote and grow as an artist without burning myself out; losing friends and connections through difficult conversations about music and how that relates to my identity – especially race and gender. I felt like I was losing myself in my stride to be a musician. I was very close to giving up.”
The talented young artist stuck at it and earlier this year released the beautiful single each year with fellow NZ artist, Jack Hegarty. Now jeline is following it up with her high-energy indie-pop-rock anthem losing all of me – a song that’s helped her to find her groove again.
“I took time to reconnect with my loved ones, stepped away from people that had been affecting me negatively through music and I travelled a bit. I now feel more secure in who I am as an artist, especially in my identity as an Asian artist. This is something I’ve been more outspoken and prouder about,” she says.
Supported by the New Zealand on Air Pan Asian fund, losing all of me was produced by Jack Hegarty, mixed and mastered by Jpec (Justin Cederholm), with Ben McHardy on drums, which were recorded by Dan Goodwin.
