It’s not often a band as exciting as Half/Angel emerges in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Less than a year since their inception, their name has become a whispered promise across the city’s music scene, with many already declaring them next in line to the throne. Now, at the height of their powers, they’re channeling the raw energy that’s made them a household name into a one-night-only performance at San Fran on November 27th. More than just a gig, this show is a rallying cry, a chance to help forge the band’s debut album, an artefact destined to crystallise this rare moment in local music history. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the choir.

Half/Angel and Goose Garden are delighted to present a supporting lineup woven from their favourite voices in the scene. A standout among them is Mystery Waitress, who conjured one of Aotearoa’s most enchanting indie releases of 2024 with Bright Black Night. Released on the iconic Flying Nun label, the album is a spellbook disguised as a record. Each track a whispered charm, each melody an echo from the in-between.

Another favourite, Elly Mae, left audiences bewitched when she first unveiled her atmospheric folk on Te Whanganui-a-Tara stages last year. With her band, she crafts songs that hold the bittersweet ache of growth, the quiet unraveling of time, and the soft glow of nostalgia embedded within.

And if, in any world, this lineup wasn’t already something out of a dream, we’ve invited the effervescent Kindekel II to keep your feet moving ‘til close. A drummer turned DJ, Kindekel plays rhythm-heavy techno with influences from minimal, industrial, and hardcore sounds.

“Half/Angel toe the line of alt-rock, psychadelia, and indie. They unpredictably juxtapose intimate, soft, vocals and delicate instrumental passages with raucous, high-energy outbursts. They’re exciting to listen to, and their singles ‘Debt Collector’ & ‘Boat Ramp + Jitterbug’ will have you struggling to put them in a box and itching to hear what’s next.” – Newzician Magazine
