Logan Edwards Releases Debut Solo EP ‘Belong To Someone Else’ + Single ‘Half Asleep’

Aotearoa indie artist Logan Edwards has released his new solo EP Belong To Someone Else today, alongside focus track Half Asleep.
This release marks an exciting milestone for Logan as he firmly establishes himself as a songwriter and solo artist in the Aotearoa music scene. The EP weaves between alt-pop, indie rock, and soft-edged folk, tracing a period of untethering.
Logan never intended to be a solo artist. His entire music identity had previously been based on playing guitar and drums in bands The Beatniks, Ani Saafa, and Chump Change.
Reflecting on the project, Logan shares: “Whilst avoiding writing only for myself for many years, one week in November 2025 saw an inescapable need to express and seek salvation through songwriting. The songs were written and tracked all within the month following.”

Recorded live-to-tape using an old tape machine and a 1960s talkback microphone, Half Asleep is a lo-fi bedroom pop track which was captured in a single take, its impurities left entirely intact. Musically it’s kept spare, allowing the gentle guitars and melancholic violins to dance around Logan’s crisp and dry vocals.
A deeply personal tribute to love and letting go, Half Asleep was added as a bonus track and epilogue to Belong To Someone Else because of the vulnerable and intimate aspects of the song that made it feel separate from the rest of the EP.
The focus track follows previous singles Isla and Worry, both of which landed in the Official Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles chart, with Isla holding the coveted mantle of #1 on the SRN charts.
To celebrate the release of his debut EP Belong To Someone Else, Logan Edwards is heading around the motu for a six-date national tour backed by a full band. Emerging Ōtepoti (Dunedin)-based alt-rock and indie artist, Emily Esplin, will be joining Logan on the road. Across these shows, Logan will perform the songs from the EP alongside the music that inspired its creation, as well as snippets from his past projects that shaped the performer he is today.
