The Fire EP follows the release of the 2025 singles City Lights and Rockets, which received local radio airplay and were picked up by streaming rock radio stations internationally. The release of City Lights was accompanied by a gritty, energetic music video featuring fellow musicians and fans.

Lyrically The Fire EP explores themes around the obsession with things you can’t control, the inner drive to push through adversity, and precarious situations that could ignite at any moment.

Empty Spaces observed “This Silent Divide are focused, ferocious, and more emotionally charged than ever before with their latest release The Fire EP”. 13th Floor described the EP as “dripping with melodic guitar lines, and pent-up anger”.

Expansion Radial called Rockets “Modern hard rock with a stoner edge that keeps the listener hooked”. “Loud Enough? Magazine labelled City Lights “a lively piece of modern rock with a twist of punk attitude for a dirty and mean edge that packs a meaty punch”.

The EP was produced, recorded and mixed by Toby Lloyd at Wellington’s Tiny Triumph Recordings and mastered by Robin Schmidt in Germany.

The band are celebrating with a EP release show at Moon in Wellington on Fri 24 October. Tickets are available here from Under The Radar.

Formed in 2018, This Silent Divide released their debut EP Tall Stories in 2021, with five further singles released across 2023 and 2024 taking their music to a wider audience.

This Silent Divide are: Shaun Jones (vocals, guitar), Kieran Williams (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jonatan Jaworski (bass) and Tim Wright (drums). Ex-band member Sunil Jolly features on drums on The Fire EP.
