Midwave Breaks Celebrate their Debut Album Release
Since launching in 2021, Midwave Breaks have captivated fans across airwaves and stages around the country, with 9 independent radio singles hitting the NZ Top 10 Rock Airplay Charts, a nod for Best Rock Act at the 2024 AMAs, and highlight-reel live performances in support of Incubus, Live, and Devilskin.
Their first full-length album Echo. Tide. Awake. features 13 new tracks for 2026 – all written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by the band themselves, in the spare room of a farmhouse, overlooking the Bay of Plenty coastline. The album explores cyclical themes of time and perspective, looking back and often reframing the past, in order to better understand the present. Available Now on Vinyl and CD from local record stores around NZ, online, and across streaming platforms worldwide.
To celebrate, Midwave Breaks present their Album Release Tour, with four shows across the Motu through November/December, joined by a host of Special Guests, including: The Response, The Rainfall, Courtnay and The Unholy Reverie, NOPILOT, Not Exact, and Van Brookes.
As a two-piece, Midwave Breaks are known to deliver a huge sound, infectious live energy, and dynamic performance. Drummer Paul Russell sums up the band’s excitement for the tour, “This album is a real line in the sand for us, as we’ve been able to explore a full dynamic range of ideas across a body of work, and we can’t wait to bring that journey to the stage and experience it live with our friends and fans”.
