Multi-award-winning, multi-genre Kiwi musician Troy Kingi has been announced as the support artist for multi-hyphenate icon Lenny Kravitz’s Blue Electric Light tour date in Aotearoa on Saturday 15th November 2025. Presented by TEG Live, this will be Lenny Kravitz’s first ever tour to New Zealand.

Troy (Te Arawa, Ngāpuhi, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui) is described by the New Zealand Music Commission as “Our Northland Treasure”, Kingi rose to fame after the release of his first two multi-award-winning albums Guitar Party at Uncles Bach and Shake That Skinny Ass All the Way to Zygertron, along with memorable major roles in Kiwi films including ‘Hunt For The Wilderpeople’, ‘The Pā Boys’, ‘Mt Zion’ and ‘The Breaker Upperers’.

Over and above his love for acting, Kingi’s passion for music has led to a successful and ever-expanding artistic career. A hard task master of his own creativity, Troy is nearing the end-point of his aspirational 10/10/10 Series (to release 10 albums in 10 genres in 10 years). He is a prolific songwriter and serial collaborator, with voracious capacity and freakish efficiency. He is also an experienced teacher with an affinity for empowering the young, having been a New Zealand Music Commission mentor since 2015, working with high school students across Aotearoa, as well as a mentor on ‘Songs From the Inside’, a TV series aimed at rehabilitating inmates through song-writing.

Kingi’s genre-hopping ambitions have earned him critical acclaim, including NZ Music Awards across the years for Best Māori Artist (x2), Best Soul/RnB Album, Best Roots album and an Album of the Year nomination in 2025. He’s also the 2020 recipient of the Mātairangi Mahi Toi Māori Artist Residency at Government House, a Taite Music Prize and a nominee for the coveted Silver Scroll Award.

Troy Kingi is honoured to join Lenny Kravitz on his Blue Electric Light tour, continuing what Billboard calls the “Lennaissance”. It’s a period of worldwide success for Kravitz, who released his critically-acclaimed 12th studio album Blue Electric Light last year. The Associated Press described the project as “glorious… the rocker’s best stuff in years,” while NPR called it a “kaleidoscope of soaring rock, psychedelic funk, gentle soul and more.” The 4-time Grammy® Award-winning writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist was also honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the “Music Icon Award” at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, the “Best Rock Award” at the 2024 Video Music Awards and the CFDA’s “Fashion Icon Award.”
