Bass & Brat Turned All The Way Up – ‘Real Talk’ by Ardon England & TAMiii
Following the impact of his debut EP That’s Camp, queer Māori artist Ardon England (Ngāti Kahungunu, Te Āti Awa, Kahuranaki Marae) returns with Real Talk, the second single from his forthcoming EP I’m That Bitch (Feb 2026). A bold, bass-driven club cut, Real Talk is a celebration of self-belief and image power – playfully flipping ego into empowerment.
With powerhouse rapper TAMiii, the track bursts with chemistry and attitude.
“TAMiii just got it,” says Ardon. “We vibed straight away – she brought this fun, fearless energy that completed the track. There’s nothing else like this in Aotearoa or even Australia: it’s a club, it’s cheeky, it’s confident – and unapologetically queer.”
Built on a thumping rhythm and sharp, chant-like hooks – “Big D, thick tights, cute face, blue eyes” – Real Talk makes space for ego as performance: the alter-ego you step into when the lights hit, the kind of confidence that refuses to shrink.
While Aotearoa’s electronic scene is thriving, openly queer Māori male voices remain rarely platformed outside of Pride lineups. Ardon’s mission is to change that. “Queer Māori belong everywhere – in clubs, on radio, on editorial playlists,” he says. In September, Ardon travels to Sydney and Melbourne for writing sessions with queer artists, building trans-Tasman collaborations to strengthen representation across both scenes.
