Janayah Releases New Single ‘Bad Taste’

Rising pop/indie-rock artist Janayah unleashes her fiercest single yet, Bad Taste – a raw, confident anthem about walking away from toxic energy and rediscovering your strength.
With soaring vocals, gritty guitars, and a beat that refuses to quit, Bad Taste captures the rush of empowerment that comes after breaking free from what held you back. Blending the honesty of pop songwriting with the punch of rock attitude, Janayah delivers a track that feels both cathartic and commanding – a sonic declaration that she’s done settling for less.
“It’s about finally spitting out what wasn’t good for you – whether that’s a relationship, a habit, or a mindset,” Janayah explains. “We’ve all had a bad taste. This song is me shaking it off and stepping into something better.”
Born in Auckland, New Zealand where she developed her performing skills at a number of gigs and concerts she is now based in London, where she has been making waves across the capital’s live scene with her powerhouse vocals and dynamic shows alongside her band. Drawing inspiration from powerful performers like Yseult, Paramore, and Chappell Roan, she’s building a sound that’s unapologetically hers, emotional and fiercely self-aware – pop with an edge and heart.
Since debuting with Nothing to Lose in 2023, followed by Can’t Get Enough and Back To You, Janayah has earned attention for her fearless lyrics and magnetic stage presence. Bad Taste marks her most confident release to date – bold, defiant, and ready to resonate with anyone who’s ever walked away stronger than they arrived.
