Havening Explores Hypnotic Soundscapes on New Single ‘nx.o’

Independent electronic musician Havening presents her latest single, nx.o, an immersive journey into experimental electronic music. Prioritising texture, micro-movement, and atmosphere over conventional structure, the track unfolds as a self-contained, fluid environment that feels both unstable and deliberate.

Stompy, chopped-up drums collide with wavy, sliding melodic lines and glitched textures, while resonant bass and distorted vocal fragments surface in the track’s finale, creating a hypnotic drift into underwater worlds. Digital tones and organic synthetic forms blur the boundary between the mechanical and the human, inviting audiences into an evolving sonic environment that rewards close listening.

“The last few projects I’ve done have been remixes for other artists, so it’s been really fun to have full creative licence again,” says Havening.

Residing on the Kapiti Coast of Wellington, Bonnie O’Donnell produces and masters her work under the moniker Havening. nx.o continues her exploration of experimental, ambient, and glitch-based electronic music, following her 2024 debut album Wavelengths of Light.
