2025 was undoubtedly a huge year for Dónal, successfully dropping his sophomore EP Zero Bucks Given, achieving international radio play and surviving a triumphant 15-date NZ Tour. The EP pulled in high praise from Muzic.NZ as “some of the catchiest tunes ever heard”, marking significant sonic evolution. He’s made considerable progress since his debut EP Born to Perform released in May 2024.

Dónal is hitting the ground sprinting in 2026, churning out the first single from his upcoming highly-anticipated debut album. The hype surrounding this prosperous Irishman is truly infectious; his recent leap to pursue music full-time has armed him with a ferocious appetite for growing his brand.

Oven is a polished pop rock radio friendly anthem, one you can blare in your convertible soaking the last rays of sunshine. It’s a notable shift from his arguably grittier unapologetic rock tracks on Zero Bucks Given. The single paints feelings for a translucent love interest using satirically savvy lyricism inspired by various homely commodities; closets, eggs (dozen), brownies and of course…ovens!

It was recorded in Wellington, and produced by Peter Jamieson. Built around a new-wave bassline, washed in ethereal guitar swells and driven by a punchy drumbeat, the track is carried by Dónal’s familiar raw vocals.

Oven is such a fun tune to play, it has a real crowd participation factor, it’s undeniably the catchiest song I’ve ever written.”

Dónal and his bandmates, The Bucks, will be back on the road this Autumn touring the North Island to promote singles off their upcoming debut album.

He has accumulated quite the following around the world. His socials keep his fans up to date on all his activities – click here to follow!

Oven is the first of a collection of singles off Dónal’s debut album. It’ll be available on all streaming platforms Thursday Feb 26th. Pre-save it here!
