Bleeders Celebrate 20 Years with The Release of ‘As Sweet As Sin’ on Vinyl + Nationwide Tour

Bleeders burst onto the scene in 2003 with the EP A Bleeding Heart, crossing over from an underground favourite to a household name. Their 2006 debut As Sweet As Sin propelled the band to unprecedented heights for a New Zealand punk act. The album marked the band’s major labour debut through Universal Music New Zealand, reaching No. 2 on the Aotearoa Music Charts and achieving Gold certification in its first week.
Recorded in the USA with producer Sal Villanueva (Thursday, Taking Back Sunday) and with cover art by the legendary Chis Knox, As Sweet As Sin comprised the best songs from the band’s career thus far. The album was a finely tuned assault unit possessing a hard rocking, blood on the floorboards, spit on the wall’s passion and soul-searing integrity. Despite the crossover success of As Sweet As Sin, the band stayed grounded in their roots with a love for the fans that made them. As quoted by “Real Groove” Magazine in 2006, “They lack the sense of exclusivity that confines so many bands to their cliquey pigeonholes… If you buy a Bleeders album or go to a show, you’re in the gang, no further questions“.
“It was a wild time for us – the shows got bigger and the whole scene felt electric,” says vocalist Angelo Munro. “We were just four kids from West Auckland trying to make some noise. As Sweet As Sin was everything, we were then and bringing it back on vinyl feels like closing a circle and starting the next chapter.”
The album won two Tuis at the 2006 New Zealand Music Awards (Breakthrough Artist and Best Rock Album) and the band went on to play sold-out national tours and international runs supporting AFI, Avenged Sevenfold and Gyroscope. Two decades on, Bleeders are ecstatic to be reissuing As Sweet As Sin as a limited-edition marbled grey vinyl LP and hitting the road for a nationwide tour:
