The Nomad Releases ‘ReGenerate’ to Celebrate 30 Years of Music-Making
Over the weekend, The Nomad released his gorgeous new album ReGenerate, marking a 30-year milestone for the Aotearoa electronic music pioneer.
Beginning in 1996 with Locust and evolving into The Nomad in 1998, the ReGenerate album revisits unreleased ideas, reshapes past favourites, and introduces new material that bridges three decades while staying firmly rooted in bass, dub, reggae, and dancefloor culture. It’s a forward-looking retrospective that celebrates longevity, experimentation, and the constant regeneration of sound.
Rather than releasing the complete album digitally, ReGenerate is released as a limited first pressing of just 300 double vinyl copies, each beautifully pressed on metallic red vinyl. Alongside the vinyl, a limited run of CDs and cassette tapes will also be produced. The full 16-track album will be available across these physical formats, while five carefully selected tracks will also be released on streaming platforms.
The decision reflects a balance between embracing today’s streaming landscape and honouring the culture that shaped The Nomad’s career. For collectors, DJs, and dedicated music fans, the vinyl, CD, and cassette editions present the full artistic vision, complete with artwork, sequencing, and the immersive experience that only physical media can provide. The five digital releases act as a gateway, inviting new listeners into the world of ReGenerate while preserving the exclusivity of the complete album.
