The Cellars debut single, Still Instilled, is the heartfelt collaboration of two friends who met at Catholic school, bound by their shared experiences of navigating the fears that come with authentic self expression despite feelings of guilt that are “Still Instilled” in us. The Cellars showcase their signature sound of intimate confessional lyricism and vocal harmony woven together by piano and guitar arrangements. The song is a tender exploration of the space between who we are and who we’re told we should be.

Still Instilled was recorded and produced by Toby Lloyd at Tiny Triumph Recordings in Wellington.

The Cellars are an indie folk duo from Te Matau-a-Māui Hawkes Bay, made up of Isabella Aarons and Sinead Hegarty. Writing and performing music together has been a source of healing and strength for the band over the years. Their sound is informed by an ever expanding list of artistic inspirations where detailed vocal harmony and intimate lyric writing take focus.

Forming in 2020, Isabella and Sinead reunited after both moving back home, realising they’d kept their spark for music and creative self expression. They booked their first gig at the Hastings Fringe Festival and haven’t looked back. Alongside music they both work in creative fields, Isabella in Acting and Sinead in Music Therapy which now continues to inspire and shape their sound and approach to songwriting.
