Katelyn Henshall Releases Long-Awaited Single ‘Nothing Lasts Forever (De Verano)’
2025 was a defining year for Katelyn’s music career, playing her first opening slot as a soloist at Meow in January, and since then getting a band together to play her first headliner gigs at Valhalla and Moon.
In early 2026, Katelyn also recorded the tracks for her debut EP A Lil Somethin’ Somethin’ and is excited to release the second single Nothing Lasts Forever (De Verano) today, July 16th.
Nothing Lasts Forever (De Verano) is a groovy, upbeat track, perfect for having a boogie on the dance floor. Following suit with her first release, Take Me Away, this song is also accompanied by her band.
The track starts off with a slick intro riff, backed by a funky rhythm section that transports the audience into a world of ambition and possibility. The lyrics touch on ideas of detachment, inspired by Katelyn’s travels in Spain after studying the language throughout her schooling. Her time in Spain is reflected in the voice of this song, as she expresses the feelings that come with being in a new place, immersing yourself, and taking life as it comes. Katelyn even challenged herself to write a section of this song in Spanish.
The single was recorded in Wellington by Peter Jamieson and produced by Angus Webb. Originating from Angus’s crisp guitar riff, the band worked together to transform the initial idea into a radio-ready, whiskey lounge RnB hit.
Katelyn and her bandmates, Dónal, Tane, and Oliver will be performing at Vogelmorn Upstairs for their EP release show on the 4th of September, supported by Ari Leason and Jeline. Described as “well suited for a whiskey lounge”, branding and promotional material for A Lil Somethin’ Somethin’ draws inspiration from and was shot in a whiskey lounge.
