Evie Bamford Announces Debut EP ‘Now Rising, Now Falling’ + North Island Tour

Following a strong run of radio and chart success in 2026, Auckland indie-rock artist Evie Bamford will release her six-track debut EP Now Rising, Now Falling on 1 September, followed by a North Island tour.

Her latest single, Daily Bread, spent two weeks at #1 on the RadioScope Alternative Airplay Chart, while also reaching #1 on 95bFM’s Top Ten and RDU Te Ahi’s Top Ten. It went on to hit #13 on the Official Aotearoa Music Charts’ Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles.

Written across three years, Now Rising, Now Falling documents a period of transition as Evie moved into her mid-20’s, exploring anxiety, self-worth, relationships and resilience through six intricately arranged indie-rock songs. The EP’s title reflects the emotional push and pull of growing up; the experience of moving forward and falling back, while also nodding to breathwork and the practice of returning to the present moment.

Evie shares;

“I started writing these songs over three years ago, when I was jarringly and somewhat reluctantly entering my mid-20s, and it’s been really special to watch them evolve since I started this project. Over my core band of guitar, keys, bass and drums, there’s magical moments of clarinet, cello, trumpet and synths. It was really important to me to blend my background in jazz and classical music with the indie music I was writing, weaving in chamber influenced instrumentation and jazz harmony.”

The final track, Your Girl, serves as the EP’s focus track. A dreamy, nostalgic love song, it shifts the perspective of the EP’s opening track, Through the Day, turning its refrain of “I’m just trying to get through the day” into “I’m just trying to get through the day, trying to get through to my baby.” The lyrical callback brings the EP full circle, moving from the uncertainty and introspection of its opening into a song that’s confidently enchanting and hopeful.

Evie Bamford will be joined by her live band, featuring Jeremy Richardson, Hugo Butler and Rory Johns, who have built a reputation for spontaneous and energetic live performance rooted in improvisational musicianship, to tour the EP on the following dates:
