Dub Asylum – the long‑running production alias of Peter McLennan, founding member of New Zealand outfit Hallelujah Picassos – returns with a brand‑new EP, Welcome to the Dance Bunker, that dives deep into the shadows of haunted dancehall and spooky beats.
Released by Loopy Fruit Recordings, the project showcases McLennan’s signature blend of adventurous rhythm-making and left‑field sonic textures, expanding on a catalogue that has previously explored everything from steel‑drum reinterpretations of Kiwi classics to dub‑driven sound experiments.
The first single off the EP is called Steelerz Riddim, a bouncy uptempo reggae dancehall experiment. The EP is a mix of downtempo beats, bleepy synths and shuffling rhythms.
