Do you feel a healthy sense of skepticism about the ruling elite? Are you constantly amazed that the whole establishment doesn’t just come tumbling down based on recent events? Do you like heavy guitar music? Do you have infrequent, random, but unexplainable bouts of IBS? Underscore might just have the solution for some of those things. Their new song House of Cards rails against the insanity going on in the world right
now (and we are beginning to suspect, since records began). The world of private equity enshittification, billionaire tech oligarchs turning the public against each other with algorithmic digital programming, and politicians’ obvious lies that would cause any normal person to lose all of their friends.

“I wanted this song to serve as an outlet for other people who are maybe frustrated like me. It’s not like that big of a deal like I don’t let it get me down but man when you do think about it, it is very frustrating, so this song is for people who think about it sometimes and get frustrated” – Jonathan Meyer

And if dark imagery and introspective lyrics aren’t for you, you can also feel the rush of Jonathan’s heavy driving guitars and piercing vocals, the paralysing drums of Josh, and Hon’s decapitatingly thick basslines. House of Cards is your classic heavy rock banger, and the first song that marks out new territory in the Underscore catalogue, a balls to the wall heavy hitter, a go getter bed wetter, a new all out loud rock sound.

House of Cards was recorded at K-drums, with the beautiful talents of Tom Broome behind the desk, and also at Jonathan’s home studio in West Auckland. The single was mixed and mastered by NZ’s own Scott Seabright.

The wait is over. House of Cards is out now on all streaming platforms, go play it loudly directly into your ears.
